It's Halloween, or if you're like me and you dig the classic throwback term, it's All Hallow's Eve. Either way, it's a quirky eve that has become a day of craziness, candy, and costumes. It's also an excuse for mockery, as many seem to enjoy shaming women's choice of attire, or lackthereof. Even though I now, {I say now because my younger self may have slightly disagreed} am a complete advocate for showing less, as less is worth WAY more...I think we all have to be particularly mindful of how we choose to call each other out. For when we are quick to mention the flawed and imperfect actions of those around us, we sometimes forget the hurt and pain judgment inflicts. We too are guilty of maybe not the same exact sin, but we also struggle and have made not-so-great choices and engaged in disgraceful actions of our own. And I know from experience, I'm way more likely to be encouraged and remarkably impacted by simply witnessing the power of someone's kindness and their infectiously contagious compassion, rather than being blatantly told that I'm a judgmental jerk and I should probably change. There is more power in love and mercy than in accusation and threat.

So, whether you're dressing up or not, and whether you're a sexy pirate or a pretty princess, remember that Halloween is not your one chance to display or prove your beauty or worth because true beauty is not seen with our eyes, it's experienced with our hearts. Sound cheezy? Well, embrace the muenster {or your preferred cheese of choice} because it's 100% completely true. There is nothing wrong with dressing up, playing with make-up, and having fun...but I know for baby girl and I, even though we may not be showing much tonight, we've got much to give. We pray you realize how full your plastic pumpkins are, even before all the candy comes pouring in.
