strength will rise.

Two days ago, we found out that our baby boy, Jude, was born with a birth defect called craniosynostosis and in about a month, he will need to undergo head surgery. As a parent, your deepest fear is having something terrible happen to your children and feeling completely helpless when your superhero healing powers you wish you had are nowhere to be found. But based on what the doctors know so far (and I'll update you when we know more) Jude should be fine post surgery.

It is scary though. Knowing all he will have to go through before surgery and after, it's scary stuff. He's just a little guy, our little guy, and I want nothing more than to make him all better and take things into my control while waving my magic wand, but I can't. What I can do though, is pray with him, whisper in his ear as I watch him sleep right beside me, and tell him how much God loves him and that everything is going to be okay. I can tell him just how beautiful he is, even with his craniosynostosis. I can tell him how perfectly he was made by a God who loves him more than we ever will, which is just completely unfathomable to this mama who loves him so much. I can tell him how strong God is, how strong we are, and how strong he is, even though he's just a little guy.

Chris Tomlin sings in one of his songs, "strength will rise, as we wait upon the Lord," and with the Advent season of waiting for the Lord beginning today, I can't help but pray this prayer with Jude tonight. Baby boy, our strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord in these next few weeks. He has been your mama and daddy's strength, and we know He will be yours, too.

Here's a helpful link about craniosynostosis for all those wanting to learn more.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, they mean so much.

Victoria, I just wanted you to know that I'll be offering up my daily rosary for Baby Jude and your sweet family as you go through this process. God bless you! Know that you are in my heart and prayers!
